Police release image of man after brush with 'out of control' dog leaves woman in hospital

A woman's finger was broken as she tried to intervene when an 'out of control' dog attacked her dog, police said.

The woman, 48, was hospitalised after the incident in Central Park, Westhoughton, while she was out walking her dog.

Her wedding ring had to be cut off while she received treatment.

The woman's dog required emergency treatment from a vet.

Now police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

In a statement, GMP said: "At around 1.05pm on Sunday 17 May 2020, police received a report that a dog was dangerously out of control in Central Park, Westhoughton.

"An investigation was launched and officers established that a 48-year-old woman was walking in the park when a dog approached and bit her dog. As she tried to intervene, her finger was broken.

"The victim required hospital treatment and her wedding ring had to be cut off. Her dog required emergency vet treatment.

"No arrests have been made.
