Police release footage of two robbery suspects after they threatened a woman in her home

Two suspects have been captured on camera after a woman was robbed in her own home.

The frightening robbery took place at 9.39am on Thursday, November 28, where three men forced their way into a home on Etal Lane in the Newbiggin Hall estate.

They threatened a 20-year-old woman before demanding money and taking the victim’s mobile phones. She was not injured during the ordeal.

The men then ran off before they were picked up by a Vauxhall Vectra parked nearby.

Inquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing but officers are now releasing footage of two suspects.

Detective Constable Michael Saunders, of Northumbria Police ’s central burglary team, has now appealed for anyone who recognises the men to contact police.

He said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim and the only positive is that she was not injured by these men.

“We have carried out extensive inquiries but we have been unable to identify those responsible for the robbery.

“The two men in the CCTV we have released today could be central to our case as they were in the area at the time of the offence.

“It is crucial that we identify who they are so if you recognise them then please pick up the phone and call police.”

The investigation is being conducted by the central burglary team, a team of dedicated burglar hunters who analyse every burglary offence across Newcastle and Gateshead.

They review prolific offenders and monitor hotspots so they can identify those responsible for burglaries and try and prevent them taking place in the first place.

If you have information on the investigation call police on 101, quoting reference 150362B/19.

You can also report online at www.northumbria.police.uk/contact, email central.intelligence@northumbria.pnn.police.uk or contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
