Police release e-fit of machete-wielding thug who threatened man in Leeds

Police are searching for the man who threatened someone with a machete during an attempted robbery in Leeds.

The thief approached a 38-year-old man at Wortley Recreation Ground, in Oldfield Lane, at about 6.15pm on Monday, February 17 and asked him for his phone.

When the victim refused, he punched him in the face and threatened him with a machete.

West Yorkshire Police say he was then "disturbed" and fled empty handed.

Officers are trying to track the robber down and have released an e-fit (shown above) of him.

He has been described as a slim, white man who is around 18-years-old and about 5ft 10ins tall. He was seen wearing a dark-coloured hoody and dark-coloured bottoms.

In a statement, police said: "Anyone who recognises him or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact PC 3280 Lawson of Leeds District Crime Team via 101, quoting reference 13200086999, or online.

"Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
