Police have released a dramatic video of an arson attack in an underground car park in Canberra.
It shows a man in a black hooded jacket going up to a car in the car park of the Gungahlin Club. He first slashes the tires and then returns and pours fluid over the car and sets it alight.
The police video from CCTV cameras also shows a white car outside the car park which detectives believe was the getaway vehicle.
"Police believe there are members of the public who know the people responsible for these serious incidents," ACT Policing said in a statement.
The arson and assaults happened at 11.10pm on Thursday, May 23, following reports a man has been assaulted by three men outside the Gungahlin Club. The assailants have been described as wearing bandannas.
"Investigations revealed the vehicle had also had its tires slashed," ACT Policing said.
"The alleged offenders were wearing bandannas that covered their faces and dark clothes at the time of the assault.
"They left the scene in a white Mazda 323 hatchback, which was seen being driven around the immediate area for several hours prior to the incident."
Police now want to hear from anyone with information, particularly if they have mobile phone footage which could help identify the attackers.
