Police release CCTV image after man tries to rob cash-in-transit driver outside bank

Police have released a CCTV image after a man attempted to steal a bag of money from a cash-in-transit driver outside a bank.

The driver was collecting cash from a bank on Bury Old Road, in Cheetham Hill, when a man approached him.

He attempted to snatch the bag of money from his hands.

There was a short struggle and the man left on foot empty handed.

Nobody suffered any injuries and there have been no arrests.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation following the attempted robbery on Thursday, February 20.

It took place at around 12.45pm.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Jason Bell, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: "This incident happened several weeks ago but our enquiries are very much ongoing.

"We are today releasing a CCTV image of a man who we believe could assist us with our enquiries.

"I would like to appeal to the man, anyone who knows him or anyone who has information about the incident to get in touch with us."
