Police release CCTV footage of man allegedly involved in RSPCA cat theft

The person believed to be responsible for breaking into the RSPCA ACT public boarding facility has been captured on CCTV footage released on Tuesday.

The man in the video is seen making his way to the public cat boarding facility in Weston about 2.40am on Saturday.

RSPCA ACT workers discovered two cats had been taken from the facility when they arrived at work later that morning.

The person responsible for the break-in is believed to have forced entry through a back window.

RSPCA CEO Michelle Robertson said the family of the cats, Beau and Luna, were devastated.

Ms Robertson had appealed to the person responsible to anonymously return the cats to the RSPCA ACT or to a Canberra veterinary clinic.

ACT Policing has made the CCTV footage public in the hope of identifying and speaking to the man in relation to the incident, which he is alleged to have been involved in.

The individual had only gained access to the Tangos Cat Boarding Facility and nothing else was taken.

Anyone with information about the incident has been encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online, quoting reference number 6777636.

Information can be provided anonymously.
