Police recover over 160 plants in Sutton-in-Ashfield cannabis bust

Police have recovered over 160 cannabis plants from a home in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Ashfield Police announced on their Facebook page that the illegal plants were found at a mid-terrace house in Priestic Road on Monday, December 13, at around 3.30pm

Police also revealed that the state of the electrics at the home were a major cause for concern.

The over loading of circuit boards and bypass of fuses meant that the potential for fire was greatly increased and a threat to neighbouring properties.

A Facebook post from the Ashfield Police page read: "Another cannabis grow has been recovered by our Beat Team last night. The property on Priestsic Road contained over 160 plants in the mid terrace house.

"Regardless of your own views on cannabis, the state in which the electrics were altered concerns us most.

"The over loading of circuit boards and bypass of fuses means the potential for fire is greatly increased. The threat then is obviously passed on to neighbouring properties and the occupants within.

"If you have concerns about a property that does not appear lived in, but one or two people attend the address for just a short time before leaving please let us know."

Nobody was found inside the property as police enquiries are ongoing.
