Police recover body after man seen falling from bridge into Scots river

A man’s body has been recovered from a Scots river following a major search and rescue mission .

Police Scotland confirmed the tragic update on Thursday afternoon after emergency services were called to the scene in Glenrothes in Fife at around 10.30am.

Officers received reports of a man falling from a bridge into the River Leven near the town’s Riverside Park.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance and had sent seven appliances to the scene.

A specialist water rescue team also attended alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service.

But tragically a man’s body was recovered from the water a short time later.

A statement from the force said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has now been recovered from the River Leven in Glenrothes following an earlier search today.”

His death is not being treated as suspicious.
