Police raids in Glasgow and Lanarkshire uncover cannabis worth £64,000

A man has been charged after police raided three addresses in Lanarkshire and Glasgow and seized £64,400 worth of cannabis.

Officers also recovered a five-figure sum of cash during the operation.

Addresses in Airdrie, Cumbernauld and Glasgow were raided on Thursday, with a 37-year-old man arrested and charged in connection with the recoveries.

He has been released on undertaking to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court at a later date.

The searches were intelligence-led, with officers requesting that members of the public should contact them to report drug misuse in the community.

Detective Sergeant Gary Crossan, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “Targeting drugs misuse in our local communities remains a priority and we are committed to seizing harmful substances before they reach the hands of the most vulnerable people.

“We will always act on information that we receive from the public on this issue and I would like to thank them for their co-operation.

"I would urge anyone with concerns or information relating to drugs misuse to contact their local police station by phoning 101.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
