Police raid two properties over revenge porn allegations stemming from incident in Parliament House

ACT police have raided properties in Canberra and Queensland as a part of an investigation into an alleged revenge porn act stemming from an incident in Parliament House.

The alleged incident occurred after a video of a Liberal staffer filming himself masturbating on a female MP's desk was leaked to an Australian media outlet.

The video was first aired by Channel 10 and was provided by a Canberra man who did not work at Parliament House.

After the video was aired, the male Liberal staffer at the centre of the video complained to police.

ACT Policing confirmed the search warrants were conducted in relation to the alleged "unauthorised sharing of intimate images".

The Canberra man and the former staffer met on dating app Grindr nearly a decade ago and both were allegedly involved in sex acts in Parliament.

The man at the centre of the raids, known only as "Tom the Whistleblower" on Twitter, said in a now-deleted tweet that one of his homes was raided while his 19-year-old daughter was alone, and police would not let him take her call.

Mark Davis, the lawyer representing Tom the Whistleblower, said the raids felt like the "victimisation of a man who did the right thing".

"There is a very disturbing tone to these warrants. Once again there appears to be an investigation into individual journalists properly doing their job in the public interest."

Mr Davis also said the raids appeared to be an attempt to seize more materials relating to activities in Parliament House.

No arrests have been made.
