Police raid Salim Mehajer's Sydney home over court-day car crash

New South Wales Police have raided Salim Mehajer's Sydney home as part of their investigations into a car crash last month.

The former Auburn deputy mayor was due to face court over the assault of a taxi driver last month, but ended up in hospital after a "serious collision" on his way to the hearing.

At the time, his lawyer said insinuations the crash had been staged in a bid to delay legal proceedings were "ridiculous".

Officers carried boxes out of Mr Mehajer's Lidcombe home and loaded them into cars.

Mr Mehajer, 31, returned to his property about 1:50pm, and left in another vehicle shortly afterwards.
