A major drugs farm in Bolton town centre was raided by police this morning — with 11 rooms discovered full of cannabis plants thought to be worth £1m.
Officers raided the warehouse, on Bradshawgate, at around 9am this morning (August 11, 2021).
As well as finding a huge number of cannabis plants, officers discovered evidence that people were living there by spotting beds, clothes, and food.
Despite the raid, no arrests have been made in connection to the farm — but police chiefs say the operation produced a ‘fantastic result’ nonetheless.
"Locating a cannabis farm of this scale is a fantastic result for our officers who work hard to crack down on drug related crime in the area,” Inspector Helen Chadwick of GMPs District Intelligence Unit said.
"Our Bolton Action Team (BAT) , which led on this morning's raid, focuses on the execution of warrants and tasks reacting to intelligence led crime trends and district threats.
"They were assisted by the Bolton Partnership Team, which is a police-led multi-agency task force which coordinates partner agencies to reduce demand on front line policing and increase efficiency moving forward.
"The building is in the process of being made safe by an electrician due to the large amount of wiring surrounding the plants and once this has been done the plants will then be removed for analysis before being destroyed.
"This was a very well equipped, large cannabis farm likely involving a number of people at different levels of the drug supply chain.
"No arrests have yet been made but enquiries are ongoing and evidence is being gathered from the scene to try and track down those responsible for the farm.”
Inspector Chadwick added that she hoped the raid would ‘disrupt’ the drugs supply in Bolton.
"We hope that this find significantly disrupts the supply of cannabis in the area, ultimately making our local communities safer,” she added.
"In order to keep on disrupting this type of crime we do need the public to report any information they may have to us and so I would urge anyone who has information about this cannabis farm, or anyone connected to it, to please contact us so we can bring these people to justice."
