Police raid homes across east Leeds as four arrested for drugs offences

Officers have made four arrests after searching a number of addresses in the Harehills area of Leeds.

The suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with intent to supply and abstracting electricity offences

A number of addresses on Ashton Terrace, Bexley Terrace, Bayswater Mount and Florence Street were targeted by East Leeds Neighborhood Policing Team joined by West Yorkshire Police Operational Support Unit and the Neighbourhood Impact Team from Leeds District, and a quantity of cannabis and cash was also recovered.

The action was part of an ongoing police operation to combat drugs supply across Harehills and across other areas of Leeds.

The four persons remain in police custody while enquiries continue into the offences.

Arrests from the ongoing police operation have been followed up with a number of closure orders to premises.

Inspector Mick Preston, head of East Leeds NPT said: “West Yorkshire Police take drug dealing and associated criminality seriously and East Leeds NPT received significant operational support today from colleagues from Operational Support and the District Neighbourhood Impact Team in an intelligence-led operation to target some of those responsible.

“Drug dealing blights the lives of many in the community and those involved prey on vulnerable individuals, exposing them to misery and criminality. Police will continue to target those involved in drugs supply and this operation is another example of the ongoing work undertaken to combat criminals and to reassure the community that we are taking robust action.

“We have been working in partnership with the Local Authority to gain Closure Orders on some of the addresses to this criminality. If anyone has any information to help us target those suspected of offending, they can contact the Police online using the CLickB4UCall system, dialling 101 or anonymously by calling CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111”.
