Police raid cannabis farm in Ayr town centre

On Wednesday, June 26 officers executed a sheriff search warrant at an address on Ayr's  High Street where a quantity of cannabis cultivation was discovered and seized.

A 36 year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with alleged drugs offences and he is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court later today.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Brian Anderson, Local Area Commander for South Ayrshire said:  “This is a significant seizure, demonstrating our commitment to tackling drugs misuse in South Ayrshire.

"We will continue to work hard every day to pro-actively identify and target those involved in the production and sale of drugs.

“I would ask our communities to continue to work with us to provide us with information which is vital in supporting us to tackle these issues.”

Anyone with information or concerns about crime in their community is encouraged to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 (in an emergency always dial 999).

Information can also be passed via the independent charity CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
