Police raid cannabis farm and come up with original idea for its equipment

A garden centre was given equipment seized by police after a cannabis farm was raided.

Officers seized equipment from a house in Moss Side which was being used to produce the class B drug.

Rather than letting the equipment go to waste, officers handed it over to staff at Hulme Community Garden Centre, where it will be put to legal use.

Police arrested two men on suspicion of drugs offences after the discovery yesterday.

"After disrupting criminals from setting up a cannabis farm yesterday, equipment which was seized from an address in Moss Side, was taken to Hulme Community Garden Centre today," officers said on the GMP Longsight & Moss Side Facebook page.

"It has therefore been put to very good use instead of it's original intended purpose."

It came after police arrested one man on suspicion of conspiracy to produce cannabis, and another man was held for producing cannabis.

"In responding to community and partner information, police attended an address in Moss Side this morning and subsequently arrested a male for conspiring to produce cannabis," another post read.

"Continuing our work and through close liaison with our partners, we have then forced entry to a second address in Moss Side and arrested a male for production of cannabis.

"This action has inevitably stopped criminals in their tracks and has prevented these controlled drugs from hitting the streets of Greater Manchester.
