Police raid Armley industrial unit over suspected drugs offences

An industrial unit in Armley is at the centre of a West Yorkshire Police operation over alleged drugs offences.

Police vans and cars were at the scene as at 8am this morning.

A warrant was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Peter Andrews, who works at Leeds Solar in one of the nearby units, told  LeedsLive  he arrived at work this morning at around 9am to find the raid in progress.

He said police were given access through the security door but met another barrier once inside.

Pictures show a broken lock on the door of the unit.

Cocaine, Class A drugs and thousands of pounds recovered in targeted drugs raids in Leeds

He said: "It’s quite surprising. The landlord is around quite a bit and they have offices at the end, so people know what’s going on.

“I’m quite surprised that anything like that managed to go on here, basically.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 8am this morning, officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an industrial unit in Forge Lane, Armley. Officers are currently at the scene and the operation is ongoing."
