Police race to street in north Manchester after reports of 'man with a gun'

Police raced to a street in north Manchester after reports a man had a gun.

Officers initially said they were called to an incident of 'threatening behaviour' on Moston Lane in Harpurhey.

GMP then confirmed they had received a report of 'a man with a gun'.

There were no injuries, and police have launched an investigation.

Moston Lane was closed at its junctions with with Upper Conran Street and Clough Road, after police were called at 5.50pm.

It re-opened at about 7.45pm.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At 5:50pm today (21 July) police were called to a report of a man with a gun on Moston Lane, Manchester.

"Officers attended and remain at the scene.

"No one was injured. Enquiries are ongoing.
