Police race to person in water at Scots pier as forensics comb scene

Police have raced to a Scots pier following reports of a person in the water this evening.

Forensic officers are currently combing the scene at Helensburgh pier following the incident, which happened at around 5.15pm.

Cops have cordoned off the area and officers remain on the scene as part of an investigation.

A police car currently sits beyond a taped off area at the pier.

Emergency services including ambulance and fire crews attended as part of a huge response in the area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed they sent two fire engines to the scene.

Police say their enquiries are ongoing to establish the establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 5.15pm on Friday, 23 April, to a report of a person in the water off the pier in Helensburgh.

"Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
