Police race to Paisley street after man seriously assaulted near polling station

Police raced to Broomlands Street in Paisley after a man was seriously assaulted this morning.

Cops have cordoned off an area near Martyrs' Sandyford Church which is being used as a polling station following the incident.

Police other emergency services swarmed the area early this morning, with a number of police cars blocking off the busy street in the West End.

The extent of the man's injuries is not yet known.

Officers have confirmed the incident is not linked to the election and that the polling station remains open and has not being affected by cordons in place.
