Police race to ‘ongoing incident’ in Scots town after person seen ‘lying face down’ in the street

Police are dealing with an ongoing ‘incident’ in an Ayrshire town after a woman was reportedly seen ‘lying in the street’.

Emergency services remain at the scene on Portland Street in Troon after being called on Tuesday lunchtime.

A picture sent to the Daily Record shows a uniformed officer blocking off the entrance to the town centre road while standing alongside a marked van.

An eyewitness claims they saw a person lying ‘face down’ in the street.

Police Scotland confirmed a woman has been taken to hospital.

A force spokesperson said: “We received report of concern for an elderly woman on Portland Street in Troon around 12.35pm on Tuesday, 17 August, 2021.

"The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital.”
