Police race to Kilmarnock street after 'peadophile out' vigilante protest breaks out

A protest has broken out in a Kilmarnock street over claims an alleged paedophile is living nearby.

Police raced to McDougall Place in the Ayrshire town after an angry crowd gathered.

People shouted 'your taxi's here' and 'get out beast' while a sign was erected that said 'no peace for beast '.

Cops, wearing masks, arrived on the scene this afternoon in riot vans and asked the public to stay back as they formed a cordon around a property.

Locals claimed a child sex offender was living in the area.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
