Police race to Glasgow street after 'cyclist hit by a car'

Police have rushed to a street in Glasgow after reports of a cyclist injured by a car.

Ambulances raced to the Broomielaw in the city centre near to James Watt Street at around 6.05pm after reports someone had been hit.

One witness described seeing a cyclist on the ground with ambulance crews spotted in attendance.

It is not known at this stage if the biker has been injured in the collision.

Traffic is building up as a result of the incident, causing long queues.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland told the Record: "We were alerted to an incident on the Broomielaw in Glasgow near James Watt Street at 6.05pm.

"Police are still in attendance.

"We have no more information at this stage."
