Police race to Edinburgh's Gorgie Road after man struck by van

Police and paramedics have been called to a busy Edinburgh road after a man was hit by a van.

Several emergency service vehicles raced to the scene on Gorgie Road shortly after midday on Friday.

The busy road remained open however police caution signs were erected while officers carried out enquiries.

Multiple Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles were also pictured in the area near to Gorgie Farm.

The man, who is in his 60s, has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.04 hours to attend an incident on Gorgie Road in Edinburgh.

"One ambulance and a paramedic response unit were dispatched to the scene and a patient in their 60s was taken to the New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment.”
