Police put immediate dispersal order on old golf course after 'number' of robberies carried out by large gangs

A former golf course has been slapped with a dispersal order by police, lasting the entirety of this weekend (June 4 to June 6).

The dispersal order comes after 'a number of robberies reported where large groups of youths have attacked and stolen bikes' from their victims.

Failure to comply with the order 'could result in your arrest', Greater Manchester Police has warned.

The order allows police to direct people to leave the area and applies to all over the age of 10.

There will also be a 'heightened police presence in the area for the foreseeable', according to officers from GMP's Trafford West neighbourhood team.

The order covers the former William Wroe Golf Course in Flixton in order 'to keep those wishing to enjoy the green space safe'.

In a statement, GMP Trafford West said: "Today, Inspector Ezard from the Trafford West Neighbourhood Policing Team, has issued a s.35 Dispersal Order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 that covers the area of the Old William Wroe Golf Course in Flixton.

"The order will last 48 hours from 6pm this evening, Friday 4th June 2021 until 6pm, Sunday 6th June 2021.
