Police pull van over on M1 for poor driving to find BABY in pram in the back

Police have shared details of a routine check on a van driver who had been driving poorly on the M1, only to make a shocking discovery when they looked inside his vehicle.

Cops from South Yorkshire Police pursued the van on the M1 heading south due to the 'manner of driving'.

It was stopped in South Yorkshire with the assistance of other units, suggesting the van driver did not pull over voluntarily.

When the van eventually did, officers opened the back of the vehicle to find a baby asleep in a pram.

West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit issued pictures of the incident on its Twitter account.

They wrote: "We were not happy when we looked in the rear.

"In the rear, to our shock was a pushchair, with a very young child asleep."

Police said the driving had been "dealt with accordingly".

There are strict laws on the safety of children in vehicles, with tots required to be in car seats and young children also in approved seats until they are 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first.
