Police pull over driver in car with tax nearly 13 years out of date

Police in Ireland caught a driver in a car with tax almost 13 years out of date.

Officers, commonly referred to as Gardai, made the incredible discovery during a routine checkpoint stop in the village of Kill, in the country of Kildare.

A standard electronic check showed the vehicle's tax expired for a whopping 4,676 days - nearly 13 years, reports the Irish Mirror.

The car was impounded by officers and further proceedings are expected to follow.

A Garda spokesman wrote on Twitter: "Naas Roads Policing Unit stopped a car at a checkpoint in Kill.

"A check using mobility app revealed that the tax was out of date 4,676 days (nearly 13 years) car impounded.

"Proceedings to follow. The mobility project is an initiative under A Policing Service for the Future."
