Police pull over 35 vehicles in Edinburgh, warning drivers about cyclist safety

Police have pulled over 35 vehicles in the south of Edinburgh as part of their winter road safety crackdown.

Officers were out on Old Dalkeith Road on Monday, with 20 drivers given breath tests for alcohol.

None tested positive, but six drivers were given warnings for passing too close to a cyclist.

One vehicle was seized for having no insurance and two other offences were found.

Police Scotland's road policing unit said: "Officers are working in partnership with @EdinPolSE today on Old Dalkeith Road to keep people safe in South Edinburgh.

"Several vehicles stopped , 1 seized for no insurance and several spoken to about driving too close to cyclists."

At the weekend, 37 vehicles were stopped in the north east of Edinburgh during a similar crackdown.
