Police pull man's body from River Clyde near Erskine Bridge after road closed

A man's body has been pulled from the River Clyde near the Erskine Bridge.

The bridge, on the A898 road, was closed for around two hours on Monday as emergency services responded to the incident.

Police Scotland , the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and the Coastguard were all involved in the recovery of the body from around 11am.

Enquiries are ongoing, police say, to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near the Erskine Bridge.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances relating to the incident.

"Concerns were raised shortly before 11am and the man was recovered following a search involving Police Scotland, the SFRS and the Coastguard .

"The Erskine Bridge has now reopened and police would like to thank motorists for their patience."
