Police pull body from River Clyde in search for missing Scot Brian Hamill

A body has been pulled from the River Clyde in Glasgow amid the search for missing Scot Brian Hamill.

Cops made the grim find near to the The Clyde Arc, known as the squinty bridge, after the alarm was raised around 7.30am on Monday May 24.

Full formal identification is to take place but the family of the 39-year-old has been told.

Brian was first reported missing from the Partick area of the city on May 10.

Desperate appeals were put out by police in an effort to trace him.

Helicopter searches took place as well as divers scouring the river with Brian's devastated family kept informed.

He had been known to have links to to Kinghorn in Fife and it was thought he may have travelled to this area.

Police had previously released CCTV images from the St Enoch Centre during their search.

But today, in a statement, a police spokesman confirmed Brian's family had been told of the discovery.

They added: "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
