Police probing death of man on M8 keen to track down occupants of white car

Cops are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died on the M8 in the early hours.

The 44-year-old was hit by multiple cars at around 2.45am today, January 1.

Officers were called to the motorway in West Lothian and found the man dead at the scene.

The road was shut in both directions between Junction 3A and Junction 4 at East Whitburn for several hours following the horror crash.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: “I would like to thank everyone who has helped us so far with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone else who may have seen this incident to get in touch.

“In particular we are keen to speak to the occupants of a white coloured car seen at the time of the collision and anyone else who may have dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries."

Traffic Scotland announced the road reopened in both directions at around 11.15am.

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1066 of Friday, January 1, 2020.
