The death of a pensioner in Erskine is being treated as unexplained.
Police Scotland confirmed an 83-year-old woman was found dead within a property on Macduff at around 9.55am yesterday.
Neighbours say their has been a heavy police presence in the area since, with forensic officers been spotted at the property this morning.
A post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of her death.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "At 9.55am on Thursday, July 4 an 83-year-old woman was found dead within a property on Macduff.
"A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death."
"Her death is being treated as unexplained.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
