Police probe stabbing outside Edinburgh Aldi after victim taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital amid reports he was stabbed outside a supermarket in Edinburgh.

Emergency services rushed to Aldi on Gilmerton Road at around 5.15pm on Sunday after an assault.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police cordoned off Gilmerton Road between Moredunvale Road and Ellen’s Glen Road.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At 5.15pm police in Edinburgh responded to a report of a person having been assaulted on Gilmerton Road.

"The person has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”

The severity of the man's injuries have not been been revealed but the road remained closed at 9pm and police say their investigations are ongoing.
