Police probe launched after car set on fire deliberately in Newmains street

Detectives are continuing enquiries after a car was deliberately set on fire in Newmains.

The incident occurred on the early hours of Wednesday, April 29, around 1am when officers received a report that a BMW motor vehicle was on fire in Iona Road.

No-one was injured during this incident. However, enquiries carried out so far indicate this was a deliberate act.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries for any additional information.

Detective Constable Murray McMillan, of Wishaw CID, said: “I am appealing to local residents in this area to contact us with any information they may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

“If anyone has private CCTV footage or dash cam footage, I would ask them to check the footage as they could have captured information which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Wishaw Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0160 of the 29/04/20.

Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
