Police probe four Ayr robberies carried out within hours

Police are appealing for information after a spate of four robberies in Ayr within a matter of hours.

Two of the incidents happened on Content Street and the other two on Victoria Street between 7.45pm last night (Thursday) and 12.20am this morning (Friday).

Nobody was seriously injured in any of the incidents and extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify who is responsible.

Whilst the description of the culprits is broadly similar for each robbery, police are keeping an open mind as to links between each crime, whilst enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector, Mick Carr, said: “These are unusual incidents in Ayr.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we are using every available means at our disposal to identify whoever is responsible.

"We have detectives dedicated to the investigations and uniformed officers are undertaking additional patrols in the area.

“I would urge anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“If you can help then please call 101, quoting incident 3649 of 28 October or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
