Police are probing a car fire which closed part of a busy Ayrshire road this afternoon.
A vehicle burst into flames on the A78 between the Warrix and Newhouse roundabouts shortly before 4pm.
Cops closed part of the road while fire crews attended the scene.
The road was later fully reopened after the blaze was extinguished.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 3.45pm on Sunday, May 23, police received a report of a car on fire on the A78 road between Warrix and Newhouse roundabouts.

"Emergency services attended and enquiries are ongoing."
