Police probe as man dies after 3am emergency call to Inverclyde street

POLICE have launched an investigation after a man's death in Gourock this morning.

Officers were called to a report of a wounded man on Steel Street at around 3:45am on July 13.

Emergency services attended but were unable to help the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as unexplained by police, with an investigation now underway.

Officers have sealed off Steel Street as they carry out enquiries.

The top and bottom ends of the street have been taped off and police vehicles are stationed around the perimeter. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.45am on Sunday, 13 July, 2025, we received a report of a man injured in Steel Street, Gourock.

"Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
