Thieves have targeted at least four Aldi stores in daring raids weeks before Christmas.
It's understood that at around £3,000 was stolen from the Cramlington store's safe.
Days earlier, the robbers targeted three stores in a single day.
Northumbria Police has said it is investigating the break-ins, which are thought to be linked.
The firm is understood to have beefed up security in response to the break-ins, with safes containing huge amounts in the run-up to Christmas.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “On December 4 at 11.45 pm we received a report of an alarm activation at the Aldi store on Cumbrian Road, Cramlington.
“Around £3,000 was taken from the store.
“The theft is being treated as linked to three incidents that took place on December 2.
"On December 2 cash was stolen from an Aldi store in Wrekenton, Gateshead.
"On the same day a store in Knollside, Sunderland, was entered but nothing was taken and an attempt to enter a second Sunderland store, on Carley Hill Road, was unsuccessful."
ChronicleLive has been told the thieves spent just minutes in each store before fleeing with the cash.
The German supermarket giant did not respond to a request for comment.
