Police probe after video allegedly shows guard at McDonald's beating woman in street

Police have launched an investigation after video shared over the weekend appeared to show a security guard at McDonald's beating a woman with a stick.

The video, of an alleged incident on Sunday morning, appears to show a man hit a woman in the street with a stick before kicking her and stamping on her as she lay on the ground.

Police and McDonald's both say they are now investigating the alleged incident.

The video, uploaded to the Birmz Is Grim blog, starts with the woman appearing to throw a drink over the man while a bystander says: “do it, do it, you bad?”.

The man, who appears to be a security guard, instantly reacts. He appears to grab a stick and seems to chase the woman down the street before allegedly hitting her.

It appears the woman is hit on the head and body and is knocked to the ground, where the man seems to kick and stamp on her.

As he walks away the woman shouts something, he returns and appears to kick her again.

A McDonald’s spokesperson told The Mirror : "This incident is subject to an ongoing police investigation.

"We have a zero-tolerance approach to violence or abuse of any kind and will cooperate fully with police enquiries.”

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "We're aware of video circulating online which shows disorder outside McDonald's in Birmingham city centre, at around 4.30am this morning (27 June).

"Enquires are underway and we'd urge anyone with any information to contact us via 101, quoting log number 749 of 27 June.

"We'll provide further updates as the investigation progresses."
