Police probe after 64-year-old man struck by bus in High Blantyre

Police are making enquiries after a man was struck by a bus in High Blantyre on Tuesday evening.

Traffic slowed as emergency services raced to the scene near to the busy Auchinraith roundabout during rush hour on Main Street at 5.30pm.

Officers directed traffic away from the accident, with onlookers reporting that a man was seen being taken away on a stretcher.

One eyewitness said: “There was a man hit, it didn’t look great.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were called to Main Street, High Blantyre at 5.30pm folowing reports of a 64-year-old man being struck by a bus.

“The man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, where he was later released after receiving treatment.

“Enquiries are continuing.”
