Police preparing for five day 'traveller event' next week

A Christian traveller event is coming to a site in Nottinghamshire next week - and police have been made aware.

The event will take place between Monday July 8 to Friday July 12 on land near to Aslockton, which is close to Bingham and East Bridgford, just off the A52.

Police have said officers will be on hand in the area during the week to engage with residents and people attending the event.

A statement from Rushcliffe Police said: "Rushcliffe Police have been made aware of a Christian Traveller event taking place on land near Aslockton between Mon 8th & Fri 12th July. During this time the local police team will be on hand for community engagement with both local residents and those attending the event."

And they have said it will return this summer.

The event took place on April 27 and 28, with stall holders and caravans arriving earlier in the week.

Despite the wet weather, organisers said they were happy with the "tremendous turnout" and are planning to return to the site in July and September this year.
