Police plane seen circling Bestwood area in response to 'disturbance'

A police plane seen circling a large area of Nottingham was responding to reports of a disturbance, police say.

Witnesses saw the plane in Bestwood and Top Valley around 3pm on Monday, January 18.

Live air traffic website Flightradar24, showed the UKP155 National Police Air Service circled the area around Nottingham's City Hospital multiple times.

The aircraft departed from Doncaster airport shortly before 3pm before it was spotted above Nottingham.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said it was in the area as a response to a report of a disturbance in Leybourne Drive, Bestwood at around 2.33pm.

Officers attended and air support was called but the spokesman confirmed there was no incident or risk so the aircraft was stood down.

It comes after a police plane was seen circling in the Arnold area last week to help locate a 'high-risk' missing person.

The person was found shortly before midnight on January 12.
