The Metropolitan Police Department has increased its presence in entertainment districts in an effort to prevent any trouble or criminal activity that could arise from people taking advantage of the confusion amid the state of emergency.

Patrol cars and police officers are making the rounds in these districts to inform those who appear on the streets of the central government's emergency declaration and urge them to show restraint from going out.

On Wednesday night, officers patrolling the streets in the Kabukicho area of Shinjuku Ward used megaphones to announce: "A state of emergency has been declared. Please return home."
