A police spokesperson said: "We dispersed a small group from an apartment in Liverpool city centre last night (Monday 3 August).

"It was reported at about 10.35pm that there were more people occupying the apartment than had booked the rooms.

"Officers were requested to attend and all those present – around 12 people - were dispersed."

A spokeswoman for Posh Pads said: "We would like to thank the police officers from our local station who attended our hotel yesterday evening at the request of our staff to assist in the removal of guests from one of our apartments who refused to vacate the premises after being asked to leave on a number of occasions because they exceeded the number of guests permitted in their apartment.

"We have policies in place to ensure that ALL guests can have a safe and enjoyable experience and they are enforced to allow the very best environment for all of our guests and staff alike and include security measures to comply with fire and safety regulations."
