Police on M5 at Cribbs Causeway as banned driver seen 'weaving in and out of traffic'

A banned driver was caught back on the roads "weaving in and out of traffic" on the M5.

The risk of getting behind the wheel did not pay off, as he was spotted by police near Bristol yesterday evening (Thursday, September 3).

He was seen winding between lanes near Cribbs Causeway, and then lied about his details when he was pulled over.

Police reported him and seized his car, according to a tweet shared by officers at 8pm.

Avon and Somerset Police's roads team wrote: "Vehicle seen weaving in and out of the traffic on the #M5 near #CribbsCauseway

"Driver gave false details however subsequently identified.

"He’s been reported for disqualified driving, having no insurance and the vehicle has been recovered."

An image was shared showing what appeared to be a mocha-coloured Citroën C4, pulled over in a bus lane.

Responding to the tweet, a cyclist said: "Good. I saw this on my cycle home, these people pose a serious danger to vulnerable road users.

"Great work, thank you."

It was not the only car to be seized by the roads unit last night.

Another man was spotted driving at speed near Bristol's Oldbury Court estate, who turned out to be uninsured.

Police took the car and reported him to court.
