Police officers take selfie with drunk man in bed so he can remember how he got home

Police took a drunk man home – and snapped a selfie after tucking him in so he would remember how he got there.

Reece Park was worse the wear after a night out in Launceston, Tasmania, and was escorted to bed by Constables Natalie Siggins and Jeremy Blyth after a cab driver called emergency services.

Mr Park discovered the photo on his phone the next day, and posted it to Facebook with a message.

He said: “So was just looking through my phone and turns out these good c**** took some banger selfies after they took my drunk ass home! Bloody legends.”

After being shared widely online, Tasmania Police also posted the photo on Facebook to encourage revellers to “plan ahead” so they can safely enjoy their night.

Senior Sergeant Craig Fox said it was not standard practice to drive drunk people to their beds.

But he added: “Police are always looking for a place of safety for anyone who is affected by alcohol.

“On this occasion, police were contacted by a taxi company for assistance in getting the man home. When police arrived, they found out his address, took the man home and waited for a friend to arrive to look after him.

“Because he was a bit worse for wear, our officers took the opportunity to record the moment with a selfie in the likely event he could not remember how he got home.”

Mr Park told morning TV show Sunrise he was not sure what had happened that evening, explaining it was a “few beers that went badly”.
