A police officer has been seriously injured following a crash involving a stolen car in Salford.
Photos show the liveried BMW at the bottom of a ditch on A576 Eccles Old Road, just off the A6 Pendleton roundabout.
The front end is severely damaged, the windscreen smashed and both air bags deployed.
It's believed the vehicle rolled down the embankment after colliding with the stolen car on Friday night.
GMP said the vehicle - which had been previously reported stolen - was spotted by officers in the Pendleton area at around 9.30pm.
The driver refused to stop, and shortly afterwards collided with a second police car.
One officer suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Photos also show a smashed up green-coloured Mini.
GMP are expected to release further details later today.
It is understood there was a short chase prior to the crash, however this is yet to be confirmed by the force.
A spokesman said: "At around 9.30pm on Friday, police spotted a car that had previously been reported stolen driving in the Pendleton area.
"The vehicle failed to stop and was subsequently involved in a collision with a second police car.
"One officer was taken to hospital with serious – but not life threatening – injuries.
"A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene."
Enquiries are ongoing.
