A police officer is seriously injured after being slashed with a knife while making an arrest after a pursuing a car through several Brisbane suburbs overnight.

The officer was one of two who sustained injuries during the vehicle intercept in Ipswich early on Sunday.

The police helicopter had tracked the car across several south Brisbane suburbs before tyre deflation devices were used to bring it to a stop  just after 1am.

Police say as officers approached the car, a passenger emerged with a knife and slashed a senior constable across the arm, causing a serious injury.

Three people from the car were taken into custody.

It's alleged a second officer sustained a cut to his finger while arresting the passenger and both officers were transported to hospital for treatment.

A 37-year-old Cherbourg man was charged with acts intended to resist lawful arrest and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old Goodna woman, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, five counts of stealing and four counts of unlicensed driving.

She will also appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday..
