Police officer seriously injured after being hit by car in east end of Glasgow

A police officer has been seriously injured after being struck by a car in Glasgow.

Officers were called to London Road at around 10.50am this morning after reports a man was hit by a vehicle.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The extent of his injuries are currently unknown.

A man has been arrested in relation to the incident.

The road is closed between Carmyle Avenue and the McDonald's roundabout.

A spokeswoman from the force said: "Police officers were called to a road traffic accident after reports a man being struck by a vehicle at 10.50am this morning.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance. A section of London Road from Carmyle Avenue to the McDonald's roundabout has been closed.

"A man has now been arrested in relation to the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
