A Citroen driver "ran over" a police officer before being chased for 70 miles down a motorway.

Merseyside Police's Road's Policing Unit said the driver ran over an officer on the M55 in Kirkham, near Blackpool, this morning (November 12) before being pursued by the force, with the help of North West Motorway Police, Lancashire Police and Cheshire Police.

After a 140mph chase, the driver was stopped 70 miles away at Junction 16 of the M6 and arrested. The officer who was hit by the car suffered minor injuries, according to Lancs Roads Police.
