Police officer injured during incident near River Clyde as man arrested

A 31-year-old man was arrested after a police officer was injured during an incident near the River Clyde this afternoon.

Around five police vehicles were spotted on the street around 12pm today after one officer suffered a minor injury while carrying out enquiries in Castlebank Street.

The officer did not require medical attention and he was able to continue his duties.

A 31-year-old man has since been arrested.

Video footage sent to the Daily Record captured the aftermath of the incident as police vehicles could be seen blocking the road.

The injured policeman can be seen on his knees as concerned colleagues stand around him.

In a second video, another man is led to the back of a police van as he is escorted away from the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12pm on Wednesday, 4 August, a police officer in Glasgow suffered minor injury whilst carrying out enquiries in Castlebank Street.

“He did not require any medical attention and was fit to continue his duties.

“A 31 year old man has been arrested.”
